Taking Professional Women’s Golf to New Heights
The 2026 AIG Women’s Open celebrates 50 years of excellence in the sport.
From July 29 – August 2, fans worldwide will watch the 2026 AIG Women’s Open, played at the iconic Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lancashire, England, where the world’s top athletes will compete for the prestigious major Championship.
In our eighth year as the title sponsor, AIG is proud to continue our support for the global field of elite athletes whose discipline, focus, precision and resilience will be on display.
Building on a legendary legacy
Since 2019, AIG has partnered with The R&A to transform the AIG Women’s Open into one of the most influential championships and raise the global profile of professional women’s golf. AIG and The R&A have more than tripled the prize money to US$10 million, played the Championship on some of golf’s most challenging and iconic courses traditionally reserved for men’s championship events and invested in world-class training facilities to enhance the experience of the players.
In recognition of the stature of the Championship, in 2025, the AIG Women’s Open received its second consecutive LPGA Gold Driver Award for Best Player Experience as voted on by the players. This tremendous honor reflects AIG’s commitment to elevating the game for women athletes, ensuring their facilities, amenities and experiences are on par with the professional men’s game.
In its 50th year, the 2026 AIG Women’s Open will mark AIG Global Ambassador Georgia Hall’s return to Royal Lytham & St Annes where she won her first major Championship in 2018, with her father by her side as her caddie.
Since its founding in 1886, Royal Lytham & St Annes has hosted some of the most iconic competitions over the years, including the Ryder Cup and the Walker Cup. Royal Lytham & St Annes was home to one of the most famous shots in history when, during the 1926 Open Championship, golf legend Bobby Jones unleashed a 175-yard blind shot out of a deep bunker on the 17th hole that landed next to the cup. Jones’s improbable shot catapulted him from two strokes back into first place. He went on to win the men’s title on the next hole.
Setting the stage for greatness
Ahead of this year’s Championship, the players will seek to earn their place among the field of elite competitors by qualifying at the St Annes Old Links on July 27 to join the final field of 144 who compete in the 2026 AIG Women’s Open.
During the Championship, each golfer will play 18 holes each of the four consecutive days. The player completing the 72 holes in the fewest strokes will be declared the winner.
Reigning champion Miyu Yamashita won the 2025 AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Wales. Next year’s Championship will be played at Royal St. George's Golf Club in Kent, England.
Good luck to all the incredible athletes competing in this year’s AIG Women’s Open! We look forward to cheering them on as they vie for the ultimate prize.
