Global Corporate Citizenship

A Message from our Global Head of Corporate Citizenship and AIG FOUNDATIONSM

"AIG is committed to making a positive difference in the communities where we live, work and serve our customers by supporting organizations that help create a more resilient future for individuals, families and communities. We honor AIG’s  history of giving back and continue to put purpose into action by volunteering in our local communities, helping employees through difficult times, supporting  organizations that address society’s most pressing needs and by otherwise working toward the greater good."

Throughout 2020, AIG donated more than $22 million in charitable contributions and matching grants. Part of this commitment included AIG’s inaugural $5 million donation to the recently reinstated AIG FOUNDATION, which was directed toward organizations supporting equity and leading vital COVID-19 efforts.

AIG is proud to support employees’ generosity through the Matching Grants Program by matching employee charitable contributions 2:1 up to $10,000 per year. That maximum was raised to $12,000 for donations made in 2020 to incentivize and further support individual philanthropy during a year of extraordinary need.

AIG recognizes that operating as a responsible corporate citizen is central to our success as a business. We are committed to delivering meaningful and measurable societal value by investing in programs that address critical issues around the world and leveraging the power of our employees, core competencies, business partners and products.

AIG supports artistic, cultural and educational institutions where we live and operate, offering employees and their families opportunities to explore through the AIG Museum Membership Program.

AIG provides opportunities for employees to use their time and talent to support and improve  communities. For 2020, AIG increased the Volunteer Time Off allowance, enabling employees to dedicate an additional day of service to diversity, equity, and inclusion causes. Some of the 2020 highlights include:

Strengthening Communities Through Volunteerism

In 2020, AIG employees continued to demonstrate a commitment to volunteering as all events went virtual. This included hosting a month-long virtual food drive that provided approximately 265,000 meals to food banks across the United States; #GivingTuesday virtual community events; and the Thousand Acts of Kindness campaign, during which colleagues internally showcased personal acts of support for essential workers, small businesses and neighbors in need.
