Current policymaking in Mexico focuses on the implementation of 2013/2014 constitutional amendments and macroeconomic policies to combat a negative external environment. Although Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto is continuing his pro-business agenda, designed to attract foreign investment, his low approval rating is hurting the ruling party’s electoral prospects in upcoming elections in 2018. The leading opposition candidate has already vowed to reverse Nieto’s economic reforms if elected. Read the report below.
