Forging Connections for the Next Generation
AIG hosted early-career brokers and underwriters for the NextGen Broker Series in New York City.
AIG recently hosted more than 50 underwriting colleagues and broker partners as part of the NextGen Broker Series. These rising stars came together at our New York City headquarters in the first of a four-part series that aims to forge the next generation of insurance leaders.
Across panels, in-depth AIG product overviews and networking opportunities, the key theme that emerged was the need to build and maintain relationships with clients, organizations and broker partners.
AIG leaders shared their perspectives on relationship building, market conditions and notable industry trends.
“The need for collaboration and a strong work ethic underpins our success,” Mike Kirchgessner, AIG’s Head of Retail Casualty, North America, said at the event. “We provide value by offering our clients the longevity and consistency they have come to rely on.”
Launched in 2025, AIG’s NextGen Broker Series brings together early-career AIG underwriters and broker partners to connect, learn and develop as insurance professionals. The latest series is taking place in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
Identifying client solutions
From continuing to protect against cybersecurity threats to new challenges that may emerge, AIG is committed to equipping the next generation of insurance professionals to work collaboratively with our valued clients to find solutions.
At the New York event, speakers emphasized the importance of AIG’s ability to mitigate risk by providing expertise in dozens of different disciplines in which we operate. Listening to and understanding our clients is essential to solving their challenges, allowing us to grow organically together.
“Our main role is to be a problem solver for our clients,” said Darren Meyler, AIG’s Head of Retail Property, North America. “We add the most value to our relationships when we allow our clients to do what they do best, which is focus on their business.”
In a fireside chat, a panel of AIG leaders offered their insights on the essential leadership skills the participants will need to advance their careers.
“Knowledge and relationships are what shape the future,” said Cristina Vigilante, AIG’s Head of Retail Distribution, North America. “Even in the age of digitization, being there when our clients need us is the bedrock of our success.”
