What's Happening

Here’s what’s happening... in the Southeast Region:

Smart Build educational event

Members of our Risk Management Services Team, led by Kevin Aikman, Smart Build Practice Leader, joined Susan Perry, Florida Business Development Manager, and Mary Artz, Regional Marketing Manager, to host a Smart Build event with our partner producer Baldwin Krystyn Sherman in Tampa, Florida. Contractors, builders, real estate brokers and wealth managers attended the event. Other team members including Barbara Chamberlain, Art Collection Management Director, and Risk Management Specialists Stephen DelGuidice and Ted Deveraux discussed a range of topics including residential safety and security; water, lightning and fire prevention; flood prevention and wind mitigation; and collection management. This was an excellent opportunity to showcase our extensive expertise directly to a group of individuals in the home construction industry.

Partnering with museums

At the Gibbes Museum in Charleston, SC, we co-sponsored an event called “Beyond the Naked Eye.” Conservator Gloria Velandia showcased her expertise by using a black light on a gallery tour. Attendees were able to see painting details that go undetectable to the naked eye.  Following the tour, attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception. Betsy Halstead, Business Development Manager, Paul Fisher, Art Collection Management Director, and Mary Artz attended the event alongside the Gibbes Museum Fellows and John Paul of Anderson Insurance Agency.

The Southeast team was involved in another museum event, this time at the Boca Museum of Art. As part of the December meeting of the Professional Advisory Committee for the museum, Barbara Chamberlain, Art Collection Management Director, and Susan Perry hosted a lunch and learn. Museum and committee members attended continuing education presentations for art collection management and social media. Through a continued partnership with the Boca Museum of Art, this is just one of the many informative events in which we’ve been able to participate.
