Hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires…In the past three months we’ve faced a relentless barrage of catastrophes. While I never had any doubts about our ability to manage multiple—and simultaneous—events, I have been (pardon the weather pun) blown away by how you’ve responded.
None of us can overlook the tragic nature of these recent natural disasters, in which so many families lost loved ones, homes and businesses. But through these trying times, we are hearing story after story of how AIG Private Client Group personnel once again exceeded expectations for both our brokers and customers. I encourage you to read the Kudos section in this issue for just a handful of these examples.
In addition to showcasing the extraordinary actions of our Claims and Risk Management teams, Mother Nature’s wrath revealed the best in all of our functional areas. Disciplined underwriting and pricing helps make sure that we get the right premium for the risks we take on. Strong reinsurance relationships enable us to pay claims swiftly and pursue new business with confidence. And consistent, proactive outreach to our distribution partners helped everyone stay informed along the way.
Even in an industry like ours, where we know to expect the unexpected, catastrophic events can create significant and long-term disruptions. I’m so proud of the focus and tenacity each of you continues to bring to your roles. All that’s left to say is a heartfelt “thank you.”
