One of American International Group, Inc.'s (AIG) member companies, American General Life Insurance Company (AGL), has earned a place on this year’s ‘Ward’s 50’ list of top-performing companies. Each year, the Ward Group, a leading provider of benchmarking and best practices studies for the insurance industry, analyzes 3,700 property-casualty and life-health insurers to identify the companies with the strongest performance. Recognizing our financial results in the areas of safety, consistency and performance over the past five years, Ward’s has named AGL one of the top 50 firms in the life-health category. This is the fourth year in a row that the business has received this honor.

Ward’s evaluation of over 700 life-health insurers included analysis of metrics such as return on equity, return on total revenue and growth from 2012-2016. The study benchmarked the companies’ performance against the overall performance of the industry.

“In selecting the Ward’s 50, we identified companies that pass financial stability requirements and measure their ability to grow while maintaining strong capital positions and underwriting results,” said Jeff Rieder, partner and head of Ward Group.

Ward Group is a part of Aon Hewitt, a business unit of Aon pls. The company has analyzed and ranked the financial performance of insurance firms for the past 27 years.
