Lynn Oldfield, President and CEO of AIG Canada, was named one of 25 honorees in Business Insurance magazine’s 2015 Women to Watch. The award recognizes women leaders doing outstanding work in the insurance sector and risk and benefits management. Readers were invited to nominate candidates for Women to Watch, and a panel of Business Insurance editors selected the honorees based on those nominations. Selection criteria include recent professional achievement, influence in the marketplace, and contributions to the advancement of women in business.
Profiles of the 2015 honorees were published in Business Insurance magazine. As cited in her profile, Lynn’s colleague and AIG Canada Chief of Staff Marc Lipman had this to say about her, “She shines in her ability to help those who are less experienced in the workforce. She has dedicated her career and much of her life to furthering young people and women in particular in the industry, elevating the professionalism of the industry as a whole.”
The honorees were also recognized at a special gala dinner marking the 10th anniversary of the awards program. In her acceptance speech, Lynn emphasized AIG’s commitment to diversity and inclusion by sponsoring events such as the Women to Watch program. She also cited the importance of mentorship and her corresponding pay it forward ethos developed over many years of being mentored by some of the best leaders in the insurance industry. In closing, Lynn asked that 2016 be the year we move the way forward for women in the C-suite and the boardroom.
“I was happy to be joined by my husband Tom, daughter Mackenzie, and my good friends from AIG who cheered as I accepted the award,” said Lynn. “Sharing the stage with so many inspiring women was one of the most important and memorable evenings of my career
