American Pathway® Deferred Income Annuity
Help ease uncertainty about retirement income with the American Pathway Deferred Income Annuity.
Making one lump-sum payment now can guarantee your income stream in the future. With payment adjustment options, this annuity can guarantee income for retirement – whether you need it one year from now, or decades down the road.
Potential Benefits of the American Pathway Deferred Income Annuity
Help ease the uncertainty of your income in retirement with an annuity that allows you to purchase a source of income that can begin in as few as 12 months, or up to 30 years from now.
The American Pathway Deferred Income Annuity can offer a guaranteed income stream for life, with deferred income payment options tailored to help fit your specific needs. And the longer you defer, the higher your income may be.
You can accelerate or defer the first payment date within five years of the original income start date as long as it complies with the minimum and maximum deferral periods. This feature may be chosen one time.
You can choose who receives your annuity payments, with options available to designate your account to a beneficiary, even in the event of early death.
If you unexpectedly need access to fund beyond scheduled income payments, you may select a one-time withdrawal up to 100% of the current value of the remaining guaranteed income payments as a lump sum .* Commutation withdrawal benefit may not be available in some states, including New York.
When you purchase your annuity, you may select an optional death benefit that will be paid to your beneficiary, should you die prior to receiving your first payment. For a given premium payment, income will be lower if a death benefit is selected. Should you die after the first payment, any remaining annuity benefit will be paid in accordance with the payment option selected.
Contracts can be purchased as a qualified, nonqualified, Roth IRA or as a Qualified Longevity Annuity Contract (QLAC).

*The company expects to report the full amount of the lump-sum payment as fully taxable for the year of the payment, and recalculate the exclusion ratio for the remaining payments. For nonqualified annuity contracts, this may limit or alter the policy owner’s ability recapture the investment in the contract over the annuity payment period. The company makes no representations and provides no advice as to the ultimate tax treatment of any annuity distribution transition, and you wish to consult with a tax advisor prior to exercising a withdrawal feature under an income annuity.
With some exceptions, in exchange for higher payments, an income annuity permanently converts principal to a guaranteed income stream.
