AIG answered the call of the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund by helping to raise a record amount of money at the organization's  annual gala, where AIG President and CEO Bob Benmosche was also honored for his leadership.

AIG has been instrumental in overall fund-raising for the organization and brought in approximately half of the $2.4 million raised at the October 11th event, held in New York City. AIG's Stowe Mountain Lodge also donated a generous vacation package, which was auctioned off during the event.

John Doyle, CEO of Global Commercial Insurance, AIG Property Casualty, and David Herzog, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, AIG, served as chairmen for the event. The not-for-profit organization is dedicated to raising money for families of New York City police officers, firefighters, Port Authority officers, and Emergency Medical Service personnel killed in the line of duty. John is also a member of the Benefit Fund's board and serves on its Executive Committee.

"I am proud to be honored by an organization that does so much for the families of men and women who gave their lives while bravely serving our communities," Bob said at the event. "It makes me equally proud to know that the people of AIG were able to bring in so much for such a good cause."

During the event, officials from the Benefit Fund presented Bob with a gift: a large mural designed by artist Alex Guofeng Cao. The black, white, and gray artwork is made up of hundreds of "AIGs" repetitively typed into the shape of an American flag. The art is now on display in the lobby of the company's 175 Water Street location in New York.
