Important Information for Florida Residents Affected by Hurricane Irma.
In response to an Emergency Order from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, the AIG Insurance Companies (the “Companies”) are suspending policy cancellations and non-renewals, with no lapse in coverage, for affected policyholders from August 25, 2017 through October 16, 2017 as a result of the effects of Hurricane Irma. Normal cancellation and non-renewal procedures will resume on October 17, 2017. The suspension of policy cancellations and non-renewals does not apply to new policies issued on or after September 4, 2017.
The Emergency Order also provides that any other time limit under a policy, contract, law, notice, or any other source for a policy owner or insured to do something related to a policy or contract is extended through December 4, 2017.
Important Information for Illinois Policyholders Affected by recent flooding in the counties of Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry.
In response to Illinois Bulletin 2017-03 AIG Insurance Companies (the “Companies”) are suspending policy cancellations and non-renewals for affected policyholders until September 30, 2017 as a result of recent flooding in the counties of Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry. For any cancellation issued on or after July 12, 2017 on any in-force policy issued to an affected policyholder, the Companies have withdrawn the cancellation and reinstated the policy with no lapse in coverage. Normal cancellation and non-renewal procedures will resume on September 30, 2017. In addition, affected policyholders will be granted an extension of any provisions that impose a time limit for an insured or claimant to perform any act for 60 days.
