As one of the largest employers in Croydon, located south of London's River Thames, AIG recently sponsored The Mayor of Croydon, Councilor Manju Shahul-Hameed's Annual Charity Golf Day, held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and Age UK.

Two AIG teams took part in the tournament at the historic Selsdon Park Hotel in Croydon. One team comprised colleagues from Global Corporate Real Estate, and the other included colleagues from the UK Zone.

Stuart Rose, Head of Client and Broker Services, said, "It was a great event and a chance for us to share our commitment to UK charities with key broker clients. Though the course proved to be a real challenge, everyone who attended enjoyed the day."

A fundraising dinner in the evening was attended by the Mayor of Croydon and other senior officials from Croydon and its surrounding boroughs. Each of the winning teams was presented with an AIG Golf trophy, especially engraved for the event.

Mark Brooks, Global Head of Corporate Real Estate Strategy and Transactions, presented the trophy to the tournament winners. He said, "This was an excellent way to promote AIG's commitment to charities that make such a profound difference to people's lives in the UK, and it was great to forge stronger links with the Mayoralty and senior leadership teams from Croydon's Civic authority. AIG has a long 34-year history as one of the biggest employers in Croydon, and sponsorship of the event was a befitting way to show our commitment to Croydon."
