AIG Kenya won the top accolade for settling claims in the general insurance category of the eighth Think Business Insurance Awards, held in Nairobi this year. AIG won the Claims Settlement Award – General Insurance. The win stemmed from a market survey of clients, as well as from an evaluation by an expert panel of judges, including global audit firm KPMG.
The Awards recognize outstanding individuals and growing organizations for product and technology innovation, corporate governance, education, and sustainable social projects. Over 30 insurance companies attended the Awards, making it the biggest insurance-related event in Kenya. The theme of this year’s awards was ‘rethinking what the customer wants.’ The Awards were organized by Think Business Limited, a strategic research and publishing company that specialises in the financial sector.

AIG’s claims philosophy in Kenya is driven by a client-first culture that includes:
- Resolving fast-track claims (below $3,000) within 48 hours,
- Offering an in-house drive-in assessment for minor motor accident claims, and
- Paying cash in lieu of repairs for motor claims when the client prefers to take the vehicle for repair to a garage of their choice.
