For the fourth straight year, AIG has earned a 100% rating in the Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The index is published by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), and rates companies based on the commitment to fairness and equality for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) employees. Businesses are rated on topics such as benefits and non-discrimination policies.
In November, AIG’s Kara Boling, Vice President Operations, Group Retirement, was a presenter at the HRC’s CEI launch event in Houston. Kara, who serves as the Business Advisor for Houston’s LGBT Employee Resource Group (ERG), spoke about her personal journey, and how AIG’s focus on diversity and inclusion creates a culture where LGBT employees can thrive.
Kara said that valuing diversity is not only important in the workplace—it’s also good for business. “We know that we serve a very diverse client base around the world. The more we can understand what they think, the better we can serve them.”
The CEI article also noted that, for the 2015 report, a record 366 businesses achieved a top rating of 100 percent.
